Jean Wilson was born in Darwen, England on January 8 th 1935 to parents Jack and May Sharples.

(!!!!!!!!!To Be Filled In, Under Construction!!!!!!!!!!)

When she was twenty she met the love of her life Ken and after a two year courtship they decided to get married and start a family which they achieved with great success and she gave birth to five children.

Jean was a very caring person who loved her family and would do anything for them and probably still will in her own special way.

She had many hobbies and was very creative, amongst some of them were Dressmaking, Doll making, Car boot sales, Collecting things like model houses and miniature shoes etc and of course her favorite hobby her Children.

Jean was a dynamic person who seemed to have endless energy and even though raising a family she still worked for the biggest part of her life.

In her earlier days she worked in a weaving shed at India Mill in Darwen and has also worked as Barmaid, Freelance dressmaker and her last job before retiring was as a canteen lady at Graham and Browns in Blackburn.

Jean together with husband Ken has also been quite successful as a small business women for a number of years starting with an Off license/Grocery store, A Greengrocers/Flower shop and a Pub (Moorgate Arms) in Blackburn.

After her retirement Jean kept herself busy with Car boot sales and dressing up dolls etc spending time with her children and grand children.

Unfortunately in 2002 Jean was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had to have a kidney surgically removed, she recovered and carried on with one kidney.

She had to go for regular checkups at the hospital and all was well until sadly a year later was told that the cancer was again active and had spread to her lungs and they gave her approx 18 months to live.

Jean was a strong woman with a very positive attitude and refused to give in to the disease and carried on living life to the full in her well known cheerful way.

Tragically a year to 18 months later but still going strong she developed a tumor on her brain which impaired her sight and concentration drastically but after a course of radiology treatment and a strong will to survive she won her fight and once again carried on in the best way she could.

Jean had lost her hair and even laughed that off and her legs were weakening but still went for her physiotherapy and had regular visits to the East Lancs Hospice where she was an enormous inspiration to the other patients and staff because of her strong will and positive attitude, Jean was always known as a cheerful person and was always laughing.

Late 2006 Jean was sadly informed that her brain tumor had grown again and also on top of that she got a lung infection which eventually proved to be too much for her body to handle although her spirit never stopped fighting and she still insisted she wasn't going anywhere until on Sunday evening 4 th February 2007 she peacefully passed away.

All in all Jean had lived a wonderful life and had been through many ups and downs but achieved all that she wanted to do and more besides.

Her fight against cancer went on for around Five and a half years and although it ended did she lose?

NO

She showed people that is was still possible to carry on.

She earned the respect of those who knew her.

She inspired other people because of her courage.

She was

A Warrior

An Angel

A Wife

A Mother

A Grandmother

She still won

May she rest in peace
